ADHDfife is not a professional entity and utilizes learned experience, external professional services and resources to support its members.

Please note that we cannot accommodate children under the age of 16, even with adult supervision. This policy ensures that attendees can receive support without distraction or additional obligations.

If you've been thinking about joining our Thursday meetings but feel a bit nervous or unsure, here's a brief overview of what to expect.

Meeting Details

  • Location: The Other Place, Kirkcaldy (formerly The Pancake Place)

  • Time: Every Thursday from 6pm-8pm

  • Accessibility: The location is wheelchair accessible and offers food, hot and cold drinks. Tapas-style food and drinks are available for purchase.

  • Facilities: The space is quiet and laid-back, with a back room leading to a garden area. There are two unisex toilets available.

  • Parking: Parking in the local area is free from 6pm.

  • Cost: Attendance at the support group is free.

Meeting Format

The structure of our meetings is flexible to ensure a supportive environment:

  1. Introductions and Catch-Up: We start with brief introductions and a catch-up session where everyone can share how their week has been.

  2. Support Group Chat: Individuals have the opportunity to speak one at a time about anything they wish to discuss or get off their chest. We use a “talking ball” to minimise cross-talk, although we understand that this might not always be strictly followed as we are a group of ADHD’ers.

  3. Group Discussion: We engage in a group discussion about specific issues brought up by members or predetermined topics if no one has a specific issue to discuss.

Purpose and Flexibility

The main aim of our meetings is to provide a support group where everyone feels safe to discuss any issues or difficulties they are experiencing, or simply to catch up with like-minded people. The structure is not enforced too strictly to maintain a relaxed atmosphere.

Inclusivity

You don’t need an ADHD diagnosis to join. Whether you are diagnosed, suspect you have ADHD, or are supporting someone with ADHD, you are welcome here.

Special Themes

Occasionally, we have themed evenings. For example, on Thursday, 25th of this month, a representative from Samaritans will give a presentation about their services and basic listening skills. We are also considering hosting games nights in place of regular meetings, which will be announced in advance.

Final Note

I've tried to be as open as possible about what to expect from the meetings (I’m not a fan of surprises myself!). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Our group is here to offer valuable insights from different experiences and perspectives, ensuring everyone feels supported.

We look forward to seeing you there!
